Only 2 Km’s away is Avis, where you can visit the old Convent of São Bento de Avis, classified as a Public Interest Property, its castle, which was built in 1214, the Council Chambers, the Parish Church and the old pillory. Located in the middle of the Maranhão dam, Avis has a fluvial beach with good infrastructures, located five minutes from the centre. On the outskirts, you’ll find the village of Alter do Chão and 35 km away Mora, with the river beach of the Parque Ecológico do Gameiro. Close to it is the Arborism Park, dedicated to the practice of radical activities for the younger ones and a walk along the river bank following the wooden walkway along 1,5km.
